In October 2024, I moved to Butte, Montana to work as a hydrogeologist with the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology (MBMG).
Working at the MBMG continued to remind me how much I love research and academia. Currently, I am responsible for the monitoring of over 100 long term groundwater monitoring wells. I also contribute to field work around Yellowstone National Park, and spent time this summer inventorying wells in eastern Montana. I am currently continuing my research remotely from Seattle, and returning to Montana quarterly to complete my field work until my contract expires in June of 2026. |

I have been heavily involved in ongoing research related to Montana House Bill 935 on the Fox Hills-Hell Creek (FHHC) aquifer.
I developed a 3D GIS model similar to the one I constructed for my thesis, to streamline the effort of identifying existing wells completed in the aquifer. I spent several weeks in the field this summer driving around eastern Montana collecting new measurements from wells completed in the FHHC. This winter, I will be compiling field data collected this summer with the goal of publishing a new potentiometric surface map. |
