After college, I worked as a hydrogeologist at Associated Earth Sciences, Inc (AESI) in Kirkland, WA. Here I learned all the standard consulting field tasks. I measured groundwater levels, gauged streams, logged exploration cores, oversaw monitoring well construction, ran pilot infiltration tests, etc.
Working at AESI straight out of undergrad helped convince myself I could make a career in the geosciences. I made adult money and learned what it felt like to work in the private sector with budgets, contracts, and billable hours. |

In my second year at AESI, I served as the project lead for a Washington State Department of Ecology funded study focusing on the performance of bioretention facilities ten years or older.
After a year of working on private projects, it was exciting to dive back into research. Along with Jennifer Saltonstall, I coordinated the project from its conception to its completion. This included organizing 50 infiltration tests across Puget Sound, collecting field data, and analyzing our findings for the final reports and presentations. Links to our findings are below |
